Tecno M7 review
Tecno might be a brand new company in Egypt but it surely has a lot to offer to the world of mid-range smartphones. We already reviewed the R7 and it’s time to review the M7; another dual SIM Android smartphone that you can find in Egypt for 1300 EGP.
Design
The phone has an average size; it is 146.7 mm tall, 76 mm wide and 10.4 mm thick which means that it’s big but not too big and it’s definitely not slim either. But considering the fact that it’s made entirely out of plastic makes it lighter and more comfortable to use for long periods of time.
Performance
Performance isn’t this phone’s strongest suit since it comes with a 1.3 GHz Dual core processor along with 1GB of RAM which means that you’ll face some lagging every now and then. AndroidJellyBean 4.2 is the M7’s software which means that dealing with the phone will be pleasant and easy. The phone has a limited 4GB internal memory which the user will only get 2GB from which is not sufficient for any apps or games. This means that you’ll probably need to buy an external microSD card to give you up to 32GB of memory. Wi-Fi and 3G network coverage are both on board so accessing internet from the phone will be easily done. Also, there is Bluetooth, GPS and Radio. This is also a dual SIM phone which allows you to have to different numbers on board at all times. One SIM card will be on standby while the other will be active so if someone tried to call you on the standby SIM the call won’t reach you but you will be notified later that someone tried to call you on this number. The 1400 mAh battery will survive 6 hours of talk time which will probably need to be charged once during the day and once overnight.
Display
The M7 has a 5-inch screen with 480x854 resolution which leaves around 196 pixels per inch density. This isn’t a high resolution for a screen this size which will affect the picture quality and details if you’re watching a video or if you’re trying to read something on the phone.
Camera
The back camera is 8MP with flash which will take good photos but there aren’t a lot of features to help you take a really good picture. You’ll probably need to download some photo editing apps to get the best out of this phone’s camera. The front camera is 1.2 MP which is sufficient for clear video calls but it won’t do very well when it comes to pictures.
Bottom line
This phone doesn’t offer anything impressive that you won’t find in other phones in the same price range except the big screen. So if you want a screen you can comfortably type and read on and you don’t have much to spend, consider the M7. If not, then keep looking, you can probably find a more capable phone.
